President and Founder
Meet Al Lowe our President and Founder. Al graduated from Ball State University in 1985 with a degree in Business and Marketing. After graduation Al had a short stent in an unrelated sales position before joining a flat rolled steel service center. While there he specialized in carbon steels sheets and coils for the automotive and consumer products industry.
Al always had strong interest in auto racing and discovered a need for a specialty metals supplier focused on the auto racing industry. In 1995 A.E.D. was established. "With what I learned about service standards, business relations, customer loyalty and dedication required for the automotive industry, A.E.D. began to thrive and develop into a global leader in the supply of race car structural materials" Al Lowe.
Al considerers the introduction of Docol Tube R8 to chassis builders and the auto racing industry one of A.E.D.’s greatest accomplishments. For the past 6 years we have been educating and working with potential users of the values of these advanced high strength steels. Today we have several hundred regular users of Docol, and hundreds of cars in nearly all forms of racing, both domestic and international. "It is certainly an honor to introduce a product to such a competitive industry that has been so well received, and change the way many look at chassis structural materials." Al Lowe.
Outside of A.E.D. Al and a group of partners established the Motorsports Safety Education Foundation – MSEF. MSEF is an online education platform where grass roots racers of all levels can learn safety values developed by the industry. When not working, Al has been preparing a relocation move to a plot of land on the westside of Indianapolis. "We have a small pack of our dogs who would enjoy the 14 wooded acres. When not preparing for this move I enjoy hiking, bicycling and cruising around in his sports car" Al Lowe.
