| COMMERCIALLY PURE TITANIUM SHEET, GRADE 2 |
Titanium is an amazingly lightweight metal (approximately 60% of the density of steel) with outstanding corrosion resistance. Its unprecedented strength and high melting point (over 3,000° F), make it an obvious material choice for the aircraft and motorsports industries. In fact, over half the titanium produced is for aerospace alone!
The most popular grades of Titanium are 6AL-4V, also known as Titanium Grade 5; 3AL-2.5V, also known as Titanium Grade 9; and CP Gr2, also known as Commercially Pure Grade 2.
AED occasionally supplies 3AL-2.5V in tubular form, on a special order basis. Often referred to as "3-2", 3AL-2.5V is also known as Grade 9, offering 20-50% higher strength than C.P. grades, but is more formable and weldable then Ti 6AL-4V. Additionally, it has higher Tensile Strength than the strongest unalloyed grade.
AED maintains inventory of titanium in 6AL-4V Round Bar and CP Grade 2 Sheet. Other shapes (including round tube), grades, and dimensions available upon request.
CP GRADE 2 COMMERCIALLY PURE TITANIUM SHEET, or "CP Gr2," is one of the most widely used titanium grades in all product forms. It provides an excellent balance of moderate strength and reasonable ductility. Additionally, CP Grade 2 offers high corrosion resistance in highly oxidizing and mildly reducing environments, including chlorides. CP Grade 2 is typically supplied in the annealed condition, per ASTM B265 Gr2. Also meets ASTM B348. |

| 3AL-2.5 TITANIUM, GRADE 9 |
3AL-2.5V, is another well-known grade of titanium, particularly in tubing. It is essentially composed of approximately 3% aluminum, 2.5% vanadium, with most of the remainder pure titanium (there are traces of several other elements). Its light weight and high strength makes it a popular material choice in tubular form. Meets ASTM B337 Gr9, among others.
Many "3-2" items are available by "special order" only. Minimums may apply. |
Typical Mechanical Properties - Titanium 3AL-2.5V:
| |
|

| Yield Strength, 0.2% Offset (psi) |
105,000 min |
| Elongation, Min (% in 2") |
